Located in the "panhandle" on the St. Andrews Bay about 170 miles east of Mobile, Panama City is a well-versed community. At the center of activities is the city- owned Panama City Marina. At the center of learning is the Gulf Coast Community College. Here two-year university transfer and career oriented fields of study leading to 57 Associate in Arts and 30 Associate in Science degrees.Also, located nearby is Florida State University, also called the Panama City Campus. Here, undergraduate degree programs are offered to Panama City-Bay County area residents in 19 fields. Master degree offerings cover 11 different fields from business to psychology. On lower levels, Bay County has an outstanding public school system. It employs over 3,000 people including 1,600 certified teachers and administrators. All teachers have Bachelors degrees and more than 35% have higher degrees.
