Destin
Florida

Known
as the "World's Luckiest Fishing Village", Destin, Florida
started as a commercial fishing village by Leonard Destin, who left New
England to settle the East Pass peninsula circa 1850. Originally cut off
from the rest of the world until a bridge was erected over the Destin
Pass in 1930, the area became one of the last to make a name for itself
as a resort destination. With it's fine white sand (known as sugar sand)
and emerald clear waters, vacationers and sports enthusiast alike have
discovered the last secrets of Destin and its beautiful coastline in the
Florida Panhandle.
Literally
millions of people flock to the Emerald Coast every year. They come for
many reasons... but the sheer physical beauty of the place is the chief
motivation. Shockingly white sands frame brilliant aquamarine waters,
scattered sea-oats cling to soaring sand dunes, surrounded by sand pines
and blossoming magnolia trees..
